All too often when the term "marriage enrichment" is mentioned, the first reaction is that there is a marriage in trouble.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  A marriage is a living, growing and flourishing entity.  It needs to be fed and provided with care.  If we were to provide only food for our bodies, at some point, it would succumb to illness.

A marriage must be more than just a couple living together.  If that is all it is, it will not survive.  A marriage needs nourishment and loving care.  What could be a better nourishment than providing the union with what brought them together in the first place?

When a couple was first attracted to each other, they could not spend enought time together.  Times apart seemed like a lifetime.  Although they may never be able to capture that same feeling, they can experience the same closeness that drew them together.  They spent time together; they spoke to each other in a caring manner; they displayed and enjoyed a sense of humor.

Spending time together at home is fine, but why not liven it up a little?

Queen of the Rosary is currently offering "Date Night @ QR", which is a program that is intended to allow couples a chance to experience those original feelings once again.

Those who attended the first Date Night, (November 5th) had a relaxing, enjoyable evening.  After viewing the video they had some time to reminisce about their first years together along with their hopes and dreams.

The evening began at 7:00 PM with a short 10-15 minute video presentation on several aspects of marriage,  followed by a period of time that allowed for discussion of the points made in the video.  Each couple was provided with a copy of the book Happy Together by John Bosio and a handout intended to promote discussion.  After the discussion there was time to socialize and enjoy the wine, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

Future Date Nights will follow the same basic format except for the February 11, Date Night, which is being planned as a pasta dinner complete with a salad, wine, coffee, soft drinks, dessert and time for a dance or two.  We will show the video entitled "Marriage Is..." and get your thoughts on how to finish that line. To offset the cost of the meal we will ask for a free will donation.

Make it an even more enjoyable evening!  Invite your married friends to attend with you.  The evening is open to all parishioners as well as other guests.

Since the evening's video and dicussion are centered around the Happy Together book, attendees are requested to purchase a copy of the book upon making a reservation.  The $20.00 charge will cover the cost of the book and future date night refreshments.
